Walking the walk

Politics and business. Business and Politics.

Like the proverbial Thanksgiving dinner with a crazy drunk uncle, politics is a topic that can bring discord to even the most lovely of celebrations.

Why on earth would I bring that nonsense to my business of all places? Don’t I know that I could lose clients?

Yes. I know. And I am totally okay with that.

My politics are a huge part of who I am. Truth be told, I am having a hard time focusing on my business right now because I am so very obsessed with our upcoming election.

Politics are integrated into my every thought, every word. How do we protect a woman’s right to choose? How to do we ensure the right to marry? What’s so hard about respecting someone’s gender identity?

How is this election even close?

Yes. I said it. On my business page. And I’m okay with that.

It is super important to me that potential clients know that my studio is a safe space. And to make sure they do, I need to put my values – and my politics – front and center.

Will it come up in a session? Probably not. Would someone voting for the other guy feel unwelcome? Absolutely not! Everyone is entitled to his, her, or their opinion. By putting mine out in this blog post, I am letting folks know that my door is open to everyone and that you are always welcome -- and safe -- here.

Please vote.
